Gregory Banach

My passion for being involved with Balance stems from my relationship with my brother, Andrew. Being blessed with an older brother with down syndrome, has shaped me into the person I am today. Andrew has shown me the importance of patience, empathy and unconditional love. Despite facing challenges, Andrew has an incredible outlook on life and brings joy to everyone around him. His passion for life has fueled my determination to make a difference and ensure that individuals with IDD have equal opportunities, support, and access to resources.

As a lifelong resident of Southeastern Wisconsin (graduate of Marquette High School and Carthage College), I have seen the need for community-based programs that provide individuals the opportunity to live their life. In my experiences volunteering with Special Olympics and Milwaukee Recreation, I have seen the wonderful opportunities available for individuals with IDD to be a part of welcoming community. Balance’s approach of focusing on the individual and their dreams, is what I believe makes the organization unique, and something that is often overlooked.

As an advocate for individuals with IDD, I am committed to using my skills, knowledge, and passion to make a positive impact on their lives. I am excited to continue my journey of service, and support, working towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all. I would be honored and humbled to have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow board members and contribute to the important work of Balance.
