Mel's Charities Fun Run and Walk
It's a good day when you start the day on an adventure with your roommates and friends! We are so proud of all of our residents and staff who made it to Mel's Charities FUN run and walk on Saturday, September 24th. And while the weather was brisk and the walk was fun, we were told by a few people that the PANCAKES were the best part of the whole morning. (We are also proud of all the Balance doggies for being so well behaved)

Staff News
Balance is currently seeking compassionate and hard-working individuals to fill a dozen Direct Support Professional (DSP) positions. DSPs work alongside our adults during our Adult Day Program and at our Adult Family Homes with our residents. You can find our job posting on Indeed here
A place for participants to publish:
We have a few wonderfully creative individuals in our midst and we would like to provide them with a place to publish things they are working on. From book and movie reviews to visual art, we will be amplifying the voices and talents of our participants at the end of each month's newsletter.

My Perception of Balance Staff: By Claire Davis
Ericka has a motherly heart she can use anywhere at any time. She’s cool and we, disabled people, are worthy enough to be her friends. (She actually listens to me and what I have to say and remembers the things I need)
Susan is a sweetheart but like… an experienced sweetheart. Maybe God gave her a load of patience so that’s how she deals with challenging disability people with grace.
Amanda G. treats people with respect until they cross the line. She works with some in her step and we make each other laugh. She has a heart of gold.
Pam has a lot of stories to tell and I am all ears!
Emily M. is a sweetheart. She listens to what my needs are. She puts everything aside, being that busy woman she is, and uses that brain of hers to solve my problems. Emily makes sure she knows I’m safe and we’ve had a laugh or two.
Patrice is like my mom considering Patrice knows a lot. When I have a question, she’s got the right answer for me. She seems to be an introvert and never raises her voice when the participants do something naughty. (She seems all ears when I have a question and we always go into a conversation with lots of eye contact)
